Kickoff Meeting and First Training Held in Helsinki: Launching the Nordic-Baltic Initiative for Sustainable Food Systems

From June 6th to 9th, 2025 in Helsinki, Finland, we launched our project with the Kickoff Meeting and First Training titeled“Sustainable Food Systems in the Nordic and Baltic Countries: Supporting Sustainable and Healthy Lifestyles for CSO Members, Youth, and Educators.” The event brought together civil society representatives, young people, educators, and sustainability experts from across the Nordic and Baltic regions to begin a shared journey toward transforming food systems and promoting sustainable living.
Key Goals and Themes
The training aimed to equip participants with knowledge and skills related to sustainable food systems, including the adaptation of traditional cuisines within a sustainable development framework, healthy eating habits, green food choices, and youth commitment to sustainable lifestyles. Through interactive sessions, the event explored how food culture can become a tool for change—encouraging youth to become sustainability multipliers in their communities.
This kickoff training set a strong foundation for a growing Nordic-Baltic network committed to transforming food systems and youth habits. By fostering cooperation and sharing expertise, the project aspires to empower young people to become active changemakers for a more sustainable, healthy, and culturally rooted future.
